Title: spark plug oil bath

its diagnostic time again. my omega wouldnt start this morning plenty of juice,plenty of fuel just wouldnt fire up. there was a smell of petrol so i assumed i flooded the engine with fuel, however when i came to remove the spark plugs all 4 plugs were submerged in yurky black engine oil. i syringed out the oil but found when i removed the plugs they to were covered in oil, there didnt seem to be any oil on the top of the pistons so the oil on the plugs may have been from any residue in the plug pots which had dripped down possibly. there is no water in the sump and no oil in the coolant HELP  :'(

Camcover gasket needs replacing, it has leaked oil into the plug wells. Sounds like it may well have knackered your coil pack so you may well need one of those as well. ;)

i had to have this done too. if left unsorted youll need new spark plug leads too iirc

2.2 Webby, no plug leads.Coil pack directly on top off the plugs. ;)

Thanks Guys, I have drained the oil out given it a good clean up, recharged the battery and managed to get it going. Any idea how difficult it is to replace camcover gasket. Will it be like the rocker cover gasket on engines of old? Are there any snags im likely to run into? The coil pack seems working, phew!

make the cam covers a priority! now its leaking inwards, not long before it starts leaking out (smoke) and covering the heat shields with oil.  :y
