Just a quicky, what do you guys think would be a realistic average on a 2.5 V6 auto Elite saloon?
-
25mpg imo. :y
-
Obviously I realise how it's driven, but I'm suggesting "normal" driving, I.e: not flat to the floor or driving like a hooligan!
-
mine averaged around 23 mpg but mostly shortish runs, mine is elite estate so one of the heaviest models as well which doesn't help :'(
-
Sensibly driven on a mixture of different road types, 25 mpg shouldnt be far out. ;)
-
20 around town (short trips), 32 on motorway at 80mph
-
town : 22-25 (depending on seasonal temperature- road traffic) and not driving like a granny..
motorway: 28-36 (depending on avg speed-road inclination)
-
So basically as the guy who is selling it had told me, driven right mid 20's to mid 30's?
-
Mid 20,s as an average. Mid 30,s only achievable on purely motorway journeys. ;)
-
Around town it can drop to 18 or so... :'(

or less if ou let my SWMBO drive it for a week or two ::) ::) ::)
-
I would absolutely concur with all the above.
V6 ...2.5, 2.6, 3.0 and 3.2...
All pretty much the same on average.
Both my 2.5 and now, the 3.0 return VERY close to 25MPG avaerage on a combination of town and dual carriageways.
You'd be VERY hard pressed to better it or worsen that with normal driving.
As well known, it's getting them moving which costs the fuel ! ;) :y
-
Cheers for that folks! I'm going for it, she's to be MOT'd by the current owner before I get her.
-
hope you bagthe prize sunshine :y :y :y
i agreewith everything said.
my 2.5 v6 will do between 19 and 23 town driving. however if you do alot of mway miles it will pay dividends. 39 mpg is the best ive ever got on a long blast but average on a long run would be35 :y :y :y :y
-
ps any pics of your potential new lovelife??? :)
-
Im doing about 85 ish miles per £15. Getting around 30mpg using mainly A roads.

You certainly will notice this differnce in fuel costs if you are trading up from a Cavvy 1.7 TD matey!
What are you doing with it btw? Is it a clean one?
(Bit of a Cav fan I'm afraid :-[)

Expect your fuel costs to double if your used to TD consumption!
-
Mine does 17 around SW london - largely due to the ridiculous number of traffic lights Ken and now Boris have put in - if they want to reduce emmisions get rid of 50% of these!!! - and 32-35 on the motorway
-
I've only had the Cav a couple of weeks, it was traded for my Corsa b Sri, but the minute I had the Cav and posted pics up on my local forum www.Ni-Vaux.co.uk I had a guy off the omega. So I haven't really got used to the fuel consumption yet although I have just done 400mile to £52 of diesel and still a bit left in the tank!
Back when I first joined this site I had a 3.0 v6 manual cd estate, so I kinda know what to expect mpg wise
-
im averageing 26.8 overall and mines been cammed, still lot better than the subaru,s i used to run and the mitsubishi delica turbo diesel ,used to have a lay down after filling that with diesel £94 and then it did 23 mpg
-
If I was averaging high 20's then I reckon I'd be happy enough. The road that I drive to work is more or less a straight road and its a 25mile round trip, so I think that should be do-able based on what you guys are saying :y
