On the two cars I have and my motorbike I run the thickest gauge possible earth wire straight from the battery neg to a point on the block/cylinder head as often the standard earth strap is pants or poorly located in relation to the 'head(s). This lead is an additional earth strap for the 'head(s) not a replacement for other negative leads
I do know that electricty needs free electrons to move and the greater the electrons the better (solids have more atoms and therefore electrons than a liquid or gas. And that electricity will take the path of least resistance)
Anyone done this on an Omega.....
Havent collected my Omega yet so been unable to have a good look at the wiring

What guage Do you use on you car?

I use the thickest ofc (oxygen free copper) lead that I can work with regarding space available to connect to the block or head(s)
On my Ford Probe 2.5 V6 the lead is about 20mm thick and there's a conveinent threaded hole on the top edge of the block in between the 'heads.
On my bike I found that starting is much easier and the bike idles better and some people have found a few extra bhp when visited a dyno after

Interesting thought.
The main earth connection on the V6 is above the aircon compressor and (pot 1995/6) its a big bugger straight from the battery.
No point in even worrying about an earth conenction to the DIS pack (tripe coil assembly) as it doesnt use earth at all. It has a 12V feed and the ECU pulls each coil on the primary to 0V as required, both ends of the secondary then feed a plug each so the earth is via the head and the plug.
Just check that the 0V connections to and under the battery are good tight and clean.

It can never hurt to upgrade the main power leads or 'Big Three' as they are also known, but I'd be very surprised to see a power increase!
