Title: Lights are on but no ones home :-) No Bong !
Post by: Amarok on 30 March 2007, 14:09:10
Hi,
2 weeks ago after a heavy downpour I noticed the passenger footwell was wet, when I turned on the heater fan you could hear a propeller sound splashing away under the dash. A quick look under the bonnet revealed the heater/pollen filter compartment full of water !!.  >:(

After I unblocked the drain (full of leaves and Cr*p) and dried it all out, everything 'seemed' to work apart from the BONG,BONG,BONG warning when you leave the lights on and when I open the door nothing but complete silence, I still get the buzz sound if the key is left in so the door switch is working >:(

Does anyone know where the klaxon is located please, and if it is on a fuse  :)

Sorry, cannot help with your issue, but yet another timely reminder to everyone to keep that drain clear - you are lucky not to do £100 of damage to fan's speed controller....

You will new new pollen filter as well.

Hi......
Does anyone know where the klaxon is located please, and if it is on a fuse  :)

It's on the left hand side of the passenger foot well, which ties in nicely with your flood.

No its not....the keys in ignition buzzer is behind the glove box....the lights on buzzer is part of the light switch....check the drivers side doot switch....it has two contacts....one of which goes to the light switch for lights on warning.

Different from mine then! (99 mini face lift Elite) Lights de-dah 'buzzer' is definately on the left hand side of the car - I've seen it it - which is also where I keep my glove box  ;) and the keys in the ignition steady buzz is also on the left of my car. Both my 99 Astra & my wife's 5s  plate Astra G seem to have the 'buzzer' somewhere in/around the light switch though.

Thats based on my 99 mini facelift, 96 early car and 2001 facelift....all in the same place....also corresponds with the TIS location and circuit diagram

Turn the lights on and open the door.....listen for where the warning comes from....

I have just checked both the R reg MV6 and the T reg Elite, though both are MY98, and the lights on buzzer and key in buzzer both appear to come from behind glovebox on both cars....    :-/

Really odd. Both mine are MY98, and Andy B's is as well.

I know noises can transmit through car, but I double checked....   :-/

IIRC the buzzer is red. I know I've seen it cos I found it while I had my car dismantled looking for the location of the trailer brake light failure 'relay' base.
