Title: DRL relay
Post by: Alvaro on 05 July 2007, 23:57:40
Hi,
Does anyone know exactly where the daytime running light relay is?
I think it is on A pillar in the passenger side (from a left hand drive). Is it hard to reach?
I put a fuse in the DRL socket (in the fusebox), but only the position lamps turn on. I don't know what can that mean.

I want to enable these lights, because here in Chile the DRL are mandatory since 1st June on the interurban roads (including motorways). I think that it is best to have the lights running automatically all the time in order to avoid stupid tickets.

Not sure where it sits, as we don't have these in my country.  I think its an entire module though...

When you put a 10A fuse in the place of the DRL, what happens? Do you even have a connection there?

I ask that, because when I put a fuse there, the position (parking) lights turn on and I don't know why. Or maybe can I enable the DRL with a Tech2 reader?

thanks

The relay is behind the kickpanel on the passanger side on that one, but it's realy hidden.. behhind the central locking unit, inside the body. Loosen the two screws that come visably when the central locking unit is removed, then pull the relay down.
You will see the wires going up there.
Hope this will help  :)

Thanks. I found it. In my case down behind the plastic panel on the right(passenger) feet.

I did quite a bit of research into this sime time ago.

The wiring is not fitted to RHD cars!

The thing causing the confusion is that the same glovebox lid is fitted to RHD and LHD cars - hence the confusion.

Hope that makes sense - Rob

The DRL (in the red circle) is located at the A pillar above the locking ecu
Also you have to place F8 = 10A

In the fuse box there is the country plug.

If you move the loom from pin 5 to pin 2, the license plate lights will also go on.

It depends whether you have a RHD of LHD car.

If a RHD car then forget it as the wiring isn't there (see my earlier comment).

If a LHD car then a GM dealer would be a good place to start  :y

Not arguing but...

The photo Vegas has posted is surely of a RHD car :-\
