Post by: pscocoa on 05 August 2007, 00:08:03

They are like rocking horse poo, and very expensive.

I beleive German ebay is your best bet.....or downgrade.

If you get rid due to it being broken....try Mark's DTM 1st.

Sometimes its just the Sharp colour panel that fails which with care can be swapped over.

There was a panel for sale on German ebay for a reasonable price, think it was this one.

Otherwise your looking at 300 quid and some tech 2 work, make sure also that any replacement display is in delivery mode.

Marks_DTM is the expert on these, so if he says the panel can be changed. Not sure how easy though.

If you buy a complete replacement unit, it must be in delivery mode, and you must have the proper codes for your existing ones to be able to depair the faulty one, before repairing the replacement.

Many thanks - a very useful link - at the moment have found a very technical solution to keep me going - a smart rap on the dashboard and it works for an hour or so!!

I am still battling with the intermittent CID fault. But interestingly it is quite stable if I turn off RDS and TP - bizarre. Trying to find the name of the manufacturer to see if it is possible to change one of the boards - I think someone said there were 3 pcbs in the display.
