Hello,
I've just removed a crusie control system from a 98 3.0 v6 elite but I coundn't find the brake pedal switch, can someone please tell me exactly where it is,
cheers Jim
-
Right at the top of the brake pedal itself
-
Is it on the floor?
-
No.............Its up under the dash mounted on a bracket at the top of the brake pedal.
-
card panel needs to be removed to see it.
-
I'm retro fitting the cruise control system to my 1998 mv6, I know that all the plugs are under the bonnet for the system but is the stalk just one for one, plug and play.
Also does the brake pedal switch also just plug in or do I have to remove anything else from the donar car to make it work
-
Actuater and bits under the bonnet, brake and clutch switches and as you say swap over the stalks..

Ok, I've found the pedal switch and it has four wires coming from it, is this the correct one to use with the cruise control system or do I have to fit another one
-
Jim if the switch has 2 pins but 4 wires then you need to change the brake switch to a 4 pin switch. if the switch is 4 pins then you are good to go as they say.

Ok it did have 2 pins but 4 wires thought I wouldn't have to change it :(, no problem I'II get the correct switch from the doner car tomorrow now that I know where it is, cheers mate :y

Jim you need to push the "keeper" in to allow the switch to be removed, but do not play with the switch when out as the plunger will have a working position as such. if you have any problems with the switch pm me as i have a spare [new] up for grabs.
Regards, Gary.

Hello,
Right I'm a little confused, I when back to the scappie's today and removed the brake pedal switch for the cruise control and it a 2 pin switch (picture below), Now if I need a four pin switch to make the cruise control switch off when I brake, how come the car I removed the whole crusie control system from (a 3.0 elite 1997) only has a 2 pin switch on the brake pedal, Can anyone help :-/

Mine was the same when I just did mine, has cruise fitted but only a 2-pin brake switch :(
Checked through the service history though, and in 2002 apparently VX replaced the brake switch due to some eronious failure, and from what I gather they fitted the wrong switch...
You need VX p/n 9149766 047F05 SWITCH-STOP L
Costs £11.77+VAT on TC

Cheers Mate, I understand I need a 4 pin switch but it was just the fact that I removed the full cruise control kit from the same car and the switch which was fitted to that was the 2 pin switch and that's where the confusion was coming from, the car I removed it from was a 1998 elite 3.0 v6 :y

Jim try the cruise with the 2 pin switch that is in the car now. if it does not work fit a 4 pin in it's place then try. mine worked with a 2 pin . :y
