Title: radi/cd fitting
Post by: robbo299 on 10 January 2008, 21:32:40
hi, thinking of fitting either a CDR2005 or CD30 radio/cd in my omega estate. Assume that the CDR2005 will fit ok, can some kind gent inform me if the CD30 will fit as well before i shell out my hard earned dosh. thanx.

Personally I would go for an aftermarket unit.

Ok you lose the display in the MID but you gain a better headunit (assuming you choose sensibly and go for Alpine/Pioneer/Kenwood etc)

The Vx units are totally overpriced for what they are.

This guy talks a lot of sense !!

As a general guide (excluding telephone head units) if your stereo model number has 4 digits - CDR2005 etc, then it can only be replaced by another head unit with four digits CCR2006 etc. You cannot put a 2 digit stereo into a four digit hole.

CD30, CD40, CD50, DVD90 CANNOT BE USED in the Omega
Although the shape may fit, the protocol laguage is different as the two digit models also communicate with the engine ECU for their coding and run the displays via Canbus

And with an add on, a lot of decent stereo's will talk to the MID or steering controls.

Space for said add on, can be a bit tight though ;)

I got my CDR2005 from  -   Arden Car Audio    01789 763816      they had them on eBay back in the summer.
Mine was £131.70 delivered next day with 12months warrenty.
Might be worth giving them a call.
