Title: Alarming
Post by: Mutly07 on 11 February 2008, 12:26:29
Could anyone help me and stop me from getting lynched by my neigbours, my 99 2.5 Elite alarm keeps going off intermittently I've tried the owner hand book stuff and that has not worked. Some tips would be handy before I take it to my local Vauxhall specialist.

At the moment it's had the battery disconnected which was fun at 3am this morning.

First thing to try is to unplug the pillar switch under the bonnet that detects bonnet opening.

If it still misbehaves with this off try removing the power sounder which is the electronic siren  under the scuttle panel, just behind the driver's side front suspension turret. Plenty of info on the power sounder in here as it's often troublesome.

Disconnect the bonnet switch first. (far right hand corner as you stand looking under the bonnet) This will prove one way or the other if it's the switch at fault.
You could also disarm the interior sonics before you get out & arm the car.
