Title: NCDC-2013 Info
Post by: DaveMarshall on 19 February 2008, 19:04:00
Does anyone have any info on the Siemens NCDC-2013 Sat nav, Phone, CD changer set up.  I have one here that I may be removing at some point also is there any faults e.t.c I need to look out for?

Dave.

Doesn`t  that require a Tech2 de-installation to make it sellable afterwards?

Others on the forum can advise on that one.

Don't know I assumed if I removed the stereo with loom and display and any other bits related it would work?

One of the Tech2 Guru`s will be along shortly to advise

From my understanding, the stereo and display wil  run as a matched pair, but may prove tricky to reinstall into all other vehicles if not de-paired correctly.

Should really be depaired whilst still in the car.  It *MAY* work if taken out with all components still present and stay together, but can't say for certain.

It should really be depaired then repaired in new car, using new car's security code.

I have the codes for it, what do they actually do when they remove it with tech 2?

2013 doesn't have phone. Is it definitely a 2013 or is it a 2015? Phone (Telematics) will be in glovebox if it's a 2015.

What screen is fitted? Colour or Mono?

I'll leave TB to give you an accurate description of the process, but unless the screen is in delivery mode it's useless for anyone else....

How much you want for it if I come down and depair it (assuming you have the security code from carpass)?

The parts are all coded together, and coded to the immobiliser (hence the carpass needed).  Whether it will work without the immobiliser, or whether its just used in coding process in not know.

If not depair, and the units are seperated, they are bricks.

The numbers are for the radio inputs (prestored channels), the green/red buttons are for the sat nav ... I think.. only had mine working a couple of weeks, still learning !!. The hand book for the 2013 is bigger than the one for the car itself !!!

:)

Spot on! Green button selects your 'home' location so Sat Nav can guide you home from wherever you are!

I hadn't really thought about any pricing yet I was just looking in to how to go about removing it, I do have the car pass for it.  Is the screen I have the colour display?  Sure I read these are pretty hard to get hold of?

Dave.

Dave.

Easy enough to get hold of...... just not at a sensible price.

As said, you really need to depair, then repair in the new car is the proper way to do it.

Oh, no phone on 2013 BTW ;)

What is actually involved in depairing it though, I know a few people who have access to Tech 2 or can it be done without that?

Real Tech2 required, with software at least as new as the firmware the radio/display are running.  If they have Tech2s, I'd like to thing they know how to use them....

Best to get someone to do it who has done it plenty of times before, because it is easy to screw the display up and make it worthless. I know for a fact that TB and MDTM know the procedure but most VX dealers don't have a clue.

Wouldn't really like to suggest a price as I'm only looking for a spare just incase my colour display ever died.  :y

Are there any known faults to look for on the system?  I've never seen this setup for sale so no idea's on what it is worth.

Dave.

LCD Panel can fail (goes stripey for want of a better description) but a slightly newer design panel is still available as long as you know how to solder.

CD cartridge can jam (same cartridge as other VX head units).

Pretty much agree with that.  Also, single slot cd can repeatedly eject randomly.
