I have the Carin SatNav system in my '98 Elite, I have up to date maps (2003), but need the later software.
I really want to upgrade it to have postcodes!
Does anyone have access to the latest software disc (240? i think) , i only need to errr 'borrow' the disc for a while! ;)

My disc is of a similar date, my battery is as flat as a very flat thing so can't spit the disc out to check, but it will only do partial postcodes ie AB12 3D and then just gives options of where you might want to go. I usually find it's better to use the street name though.

I've just been out to my miggy and I've tryed to put in a full postcode and would only take a partial postcode ie; G78 2**
And thats the 2008 Teleatlas disc

I think its the system software that enables this. Dont think it does full postcode, just partial, then gives a list of possible roads?
The system software disc (the one that allows you to change langauges) is different to the map disc
-
Those that are working, get your software version - Settings > System Information > SW VER

Mine is version: '200'
Jim - How accurate do you find the partial postcode system? As TB says, after the postcode is entered, does it give a list of roads with that postcode?

No just give's me the town for that partial postcode, I then have to manually enter the street/road name

we just need 1 version, then we can all borrow it :)

they seem to be £20 on Ebay but I'm skint as a skint thing until I shift some of the Navigation kit I have aquired, Panasonic, Clarion, Colour Carin, Mono Carin etc etc.
Come to think of it I'm surprised I've not been divorced.

I think so :
ZIP Postal zip code input* (dependent on the road map)

I need to check which version mine is... anyone know the type fitting to Elites in 98?

520 / 521 / 522
-
I believe Omega one is Carin 490...
-
BTW, I may have one possibly. But I suspect its copyright material, and hence any distribution discussion here is banned and will not be tolerated.
-
I think the software is now in the public domain as it's so old.
Pity I can't find a disc :(

I believe Omega one is Carin 490...
The hardware ID in mine suggests otherwise : 0105 & 0202
http://www.hxs.de/CARiN.htm
carin 520 & 522

I went into the system setting's and found the following info;
ID No; 581/75
HW-ID 0105
SW-ID 0150
Prod Date 97/47
What does it mean
-
It's a 530:
Mk2iM 22SY581/582 Monochrome display
The /75 is Opel P&A /75
-
I believe Omega one is Carin 490...
I thought the Omega had the Carin 520

If it did it would have Mk2iC 22SY586
on the back

let me point out that these units are interchangeable to some extent, have three units, a 530, a 530 with older software and a 522. The 520 and the 522 require a colour screen.
It could be that your unit has been replaced in the past ?
Is it on the cd unit in the boot that you get the part number from.

It is on the back of the unit but yours is 581/75, a 520 needs a colour screen :

Out of interest I took a look at the System Info on my sat nav as I also have the CCRT700 and the Carin system. I couldn't make out any of the text on the label on the top of Carin bit in the boot as I got bored of bashing my head.
However I got the following out of System Info:
Ident No: SY582/7
HW-ID: 0203
SW-ID: 0230
Prod. Date: 99/07
Does this mean there are any available updates for my unit other than the mapping CD, which is still the Navtech Autumn/Winter 2001 disc?
