Are the above not very good??
I get a break down in reception on my Omega although all the conections and rear screen appear to be finen is there any sort of test that can be done on the amp or is it just a rubbish idea using the screen as an aerial?? :-/

Liken the rear screen aerial to putting a TV aerial in your loft
Any aerial inside is RUBBISH !!
Take my advice and fit a good external aerial.

I find it works pretty well.......not so hot on MW though.

I find its OK. Even MW not too bad - I could just about pick up 5Live around Troyes/Rheims area on the one occasion the MV6 made it back from France under its own steam ::). By 'just about' it was crackly as hell, but could make out the results as they were read out (missed the game commentry as too far down France during the game).
I find you have to keep window very clean, inside and out.

The window is spotless, the tracks on the screen look fine but as soon as you turn up the radio a bit you can hear the bad reception and i only use FM, its just really starting to pee me off a tad >:(

Worth checking connections to aerial amp (shelf on saloons, tailgate on estates)

You are indeed correct - something like a tenth of the signal in loft IIRC.
However, I find the Omega ones good enough. I also have my TV aerial in loft (despite being on transmitter fringe area) and it works fine for me :) (put in loft as the legal guff when I bought house said no aerials (or sat dishes) above a certain height.

Yes but, there is a big difference between 5mm of glass and some stonking great concrete roof tiles (full of all sorts of aggregate including some metals no doubt), big wooden joists, felt etc.... :y

Agreed, but when the aerial is effectively within a metal faraday cage, ie, the car body, the results will never be as good as an external aerial standing proud.
Easiest solution is to replace the rear phone beesting aerial with a dual antenna that does both phone and FM and that way does not look visably any different to the standard one.

I gave up with mine after fiddling about and changing the aerial amplifier, just in case. I've mounted a roof aerial in front of the sunroof as with my Monza's (wing mounted electric aerial-yuk!) and I can get all stations apart from Radio 1. Still, it's not all bad :y

I have Blaupunkt Las Vegas DVD35 installes in my omega, i think that radio amp is not powered because of bad reception.
How will i check that amp??
