Title: CCRT700 problems
Post by: TheBoy on 05 May 2008, 11:52:41
I have retro fitted CCRT700 into MV6 by modifying a TM loom.

Got some problems though.

Tuner - first use, constantly scanning for channels. Fine once I've pressed a preset until next time I turn it on.

Phone - no volume control.

General - No SDVC

General - No diagnostics

Any ideas?

from experience.

The phone volume only allows adjustment when in a call,(actually connected to the caller not just dialling) using either the rotary or the steering wheel remote.

When you say no SDVC do you mean the option is not there under the extras menu or that it doesn't work.

As for the tuner problem I remember someone quite recently posting the same fault.

Diagnostics - didn't know there were any.

Yes, in a call, no volume control, either via steering wheel or volume knob.

SDVC - option there, set to 5, but no automatic volume adjustment

i'll do a search for the tuner :)

From manual :

During a call.

As soon as you are connected to the called number the set automatically enters the volume menu.

Does yours show the word volume at the bottom of the screen during a call ?

Edit : in the Extras menu what is the call vol set to ? mine is set to +3

Does it have 'current presets' EG programmed for the area you are in or is it looking for presets in the area you bought it from ?

The problem is the stereo is an old one, i have a prob with my vol control on the radio its self, doesnt do anything but the steering wheel works ok tho, the tuner sounds like its sticking,  try cleaning the tuning button out as much as you can, blast a bit of air in there. thats all from the BBM :y

Yes, once in call, it defaults to volume, but adjustments make no difference.

local presets. Pressing them produces the expected station, and radio then fine until next time its on.

That's me out of ideas then. In normal circumstances that's what you do though. I'd be asking Dave DND.  ;D  ;D  ;D

I`d be looking towards a dud aerial not providing a strong enough signal for the head unit to register the stations

Try a piece of wire in the rear aerial socket and see if any different?

Not keen on taking out again, unless absolutely necessary - its a bugger to get in.

FM stations normally borderline in my area are coming through remarkable clear, which leaves me thinking the aerial is OK?  All presets programmed in are very clear as well  :-/

Hmmm. . . . . Stumped !

The tuner usually searches when first switched on to update the pty and RDS information for the stations stored.

If FM is good, and all memory feeds are connected, I`d be inclined to run it for a week or so and then see what it is like after that - could be an eronous bit of data not yet loaded ?

Just had a thought, do you have traffic switched on and does your usual radio station provide EON information ? If not the unit could be searching for a station providing EON/Traffic info ?

You can't just fling a comment like that up and then sit back and wait for the responses to come flooding in, that's just naughty!

You can upgrade the software ? How ? what benifits ? Where ? Who ? When ? etc etc

Via Tech2, I seem to recall there being a fair few updates on the CCRT700 when I did mine.

There are a couple of things to consider about any software update.

1) Software resource and testing costs serious money

2) Because of 1), companies dont do software updates just for the hell of it!  :y

Take the Mrs to the in-Laws this weekend....    bring it round here and plug it in to mine... see if it's any different....   and maybe see if you can access it then.....  ???

(I don't know for sure yet if I'll have time to, or even if i'd  be "allowed" to wander over for a few hours...  depends on Chrissy's plans...   but if i'm here , she can't complain about you popping round to try it....  ;)   devious lateral problem solving !   )

Yes, thats the diag line.

I would have thought it would get its speed signal from display via CAN, but this appears not to be the case :(
