Title: Sony (I Know) bt2600
Post by: Jimbob on 15 May 2008, 20:31:33
Seen a good deal on a Sony bt2600 headunit.

Struggling to find much info on it.....

I think it will use an adaptor to use the steering controls, and possible also talk to the MID, can anyone confirm?

Cheers

Thats the one, but as all the adaptors are 3rd party like connects2 or autoleads, getting the full story seems tricky.

The adaptor I got for the pioneer was licensed by them, so I knew roughly what to expect, didnt perform quite as well I as hoped though...

The mp3 info transferred to the mid is limited to a counter, was hoping for full text transfer.

Done some forum / interweb crawling, the connects2 forum seems to suggest it will do both  :-/

Sony car audio has as much to do with Sony as I am related to her Majesty the Queen.

Manufactured in the far east and stamped with a sony logo is about as close as it gets.

I'll never understand it, I love Sony kit but this just isn't it !

Totally agree, I`m sure I have Sony running through my veins, and have run a Sony Service Centre for over ten years,

But some of this latest car audio stuff coming through is just dire !

As MD is a SONY product, ALL MD players use a Sony mech !!

Its only the last couple of years or so that the lower / budget end of car audio appears to have dropped in quality, but thats because people wont spend for a decent set when they can buy a ChungFung on the net for a tenner.

You get what you pay for , and like all manufacturers, Sony also appear to be putting their badge on the import stuff also.

Pay a bit more for a unit, and you will get better quality !

Well the offer had gone by the time we went back....

So on the lookout for a nice mp3 playing headunit with bluetooth that integrates with steering controls, and preferably the mid as well.
