Just lately my CCRT700 loses it's volume memory each time the ignition is switched off. All fuses OK!
The handbook simply says turn the radio off at the volume required and as long as it's not too high it'll retain that volume.
Any sugestions... :-/

Sounds as if the internal EEprom is dying . . ?
Not uncommon, and pretty much terminal if it is.

Replaceable, or not available, or simply not worthwhile? I want to keep with factory fit...

Not available -
I have tried pattern chips, but they simply do not work and only the genuine article will work (often the case with complex processors / proms)

Would be interested to see that.
Most of the common faults to do with eeprom failure is ususally the inability to retain radio presets or more usually code faults -
Can`t recall a specific instance of the volume fault - and just thinking aloud, as the eeprom is somewhat "sensitive" in this model and prone to forgetting "data"

Excellent procedure and certainly worth trying. :y
However, if the radio fails to remember the information stored, you could still be looking at an eeprom failure.
