Hi all, hope you can help. I've got the Philips Integrated Sat Nav in the car. All the components seem to be 'alive' and working, but if I program a destination in it's as if the car just doesn't know where it is. I'm not quite sure what component I should be looking at to troubleshoot but if any of you have any ideas or have experienced something similar I would be very grateful of your advice.
Thanks!

Put the unit into service mode from the menus
Code is 6330
Check that the GPS mouse is working.
-
Newly Fitted? or just gone wrong?
If gone wrong, then check how many sattelites you are rceieving and then diagnose via the service mode menu as previously mentioned.
If newly fitted, leave in an open area with a clear view of the sky and switched on - it will then "learn" where it is as the sattellites pass overhead - this can take a while, and from memory, when we installed them new, many, many years ago, two hours was not uncommon.

it's the factory fitted philips satnav, it just doesn't seem to know where it is! i'll put the code in as instructed. everythin else seems to be functioning properly, at least it is powered up and alive.
its as though it was programmed by stevie wonder or something.
i take it you can check the number of satellites within the service mode menu?

the sat nav in question can be seen mounted in the dash next to the phone in this pic if it helps:

As said above, you need to verify that the GPS mouse is receiving satellite information.
We are talking about the same system you show in your picture. It's a CARIN made by philips
-
Yup, need to check that its seeing satelites, I suspect its not...
-
Ok I'll have a play about and see what it says. If it turns out that it ISNT seeing satellites is there a quick fire solution to this, or ANY solution (other than buying a tom tom hehe)?!

Check wiring from gps antenna to CD unit.

'K, thanks, I'll let you know how I get on
;)

GPS is mounted under centre vents.
Runs left to passenger kick panel then down sills through rear seat grommet to unit in boot.
On my saloon loom, the gps mouse also has an extension lead connected to it, this will be somewhere from the pass kick panel to the sills, if this is loose it will cause problems

Its not uncommon for the GPS receiver to fail - readily available on ebay for under £20 - just make sure you get the correct connector on the end to make life easier.

I checked through the service menu last night and the GPS status is either 'SEARCH' or '----' so I'm guessing it's not picking up any satellite signal. I'm going to go out and check the wiring this morning, but it's reading from the disc OK, doing everything it should, just not sure where it is and therefore telling me to 'take a U turn' every five seconds hehe.
If wiring seems OK I guess I'll have to look out on Ebay. Is the receiver the little dash mounted box?
-
Reciever is usually a black square, with a coax lead coming from it, ending in an SMB-F connector.
I have one £10 inc postage.

Yup, mounted near tax disc on early ones or under by centre vents on later.

Just been out trying to troubleshoot this, and the GPS receiver is on the dash next to the tax disc like you mentioned. The error codes I'm getting:
READ ERROR STORE :
Code 1
Count 2
Type HW Failure
and READ INTERNAL I/O:
GPS Status either Search or ---- or COM ERROR
Then temp and battery details.
Took centre dash off, check connections, followed loom and checked Carin drive in back, all seems to be OK. I guess its the GPS receiver then.
Bah!
-
That's the error code I get when disconnecting the GPS Mouse.
However, to reiterate a previous post, if yours is a saloon, there is an extension cable in the loom so you need to check this connection AND the one to the Brain unit.

Sounds like the receiver has failed

update:
thanks to all who helped with advice; sat nav working a treat now after i replaced gps mouse. couldnt see value of ripping out old mouse from dash, lifting cable throughout the car etc only to replace with new one, so i fitted the new gps mouse on the rear parcel shelf directly above the satnav disc drive and left the old one where it is. perfect!
thanks again! :y
