Title: cid bad pixel(s)
Post by: feeutfo on 24 May 2008, 00:18:13
searched this, no results so here goes. Got new 3.2 elite with colour info display
very nice but there is usually a bad pixel on the screen. Yes i am fussy! It shows on the black vauxhall screen (radio off) as a red pixel then black on a white screen when radio on. It seems to be on the same vertical line, but the hight it appears at will vary. Thinking dodgy connection on that row? Or is this common problem and just how they are? Thanks

The panels that are used (Sharp ones iirc) are not renown for their reliability.  It is possible to replace the panel itself if you have the necessary skills and equipment, though seem to recall buying new panels is getting difficult now.

I had this same problem on my CID which very quickly became the common gray vertical line problem and totally unusable. I sent my screen to this company in Germany www.pixelfehler-hh.de/index.php. They had it returned in three days with a warranty, and their english was perfect.

You could also try BBA Reman at Rochester, Kent if you want (www.bba-reman.co.uk) rather than sending to Germany
They replaced the screen on my CID for circa £180 with a 2 year warranty (spk to Nigel at BBA)
