I have a decent 'how to' regarding the connection of a 3.5mm Jack socket to a CDR 2005 and am trying in earnest to find out (without taking my CCR 2006 out) if the circuit board layout is the same for the CCR 2006 internal board. Are they both Phillips? Any help much appreciated.
Cheers :y

They are pretty different, the CDR2006 main board is based around a cassette setup.

Cheers Marks DTM,
would anyone have a link to getting the circuit diagrams for the 2006 I wonder?

There are some PCB shots here:

Possibly has the same audio switch chip in it though.
Where are the details you have?

It's a 'How To' from another forum - which I no longer have the link to >:( so wary about posting as not sure of the protocol of posting someone elses work. I can email people though if they want it - just send me a pm :y
cheers
nb thanks for the link to Kevin Woods mod - need to read it first though ;)

Have an update for the CDR 2005 ipod jack socket - found here:

NB Mark thanks for the link to Kevins - can now look at how to manipulate the audio chip.

I haven't tried this, but I suspect there may be a better way to do this.
I suspect the TDA7313 also switches the mono input from a car kit in, when the "mute" line is active, so you could possibly supply a stereo input to this pair of pins on the chip and switch it with the mute line, which means you don't need a CD of silence.
As I say, haven't tried it yet but will do one day.

We get quite a few repairs in from people who have tried this and similar, every owners club has someone posting a similar "get around"
The headphone outputs of the MP3 player are of too high a power to do this, and can overload the head unit circuitry quite easily. Also, it was found that when reverting back to CD, that the jack socket now acted as an aerial and introduced considerable unwanted interference.

Agreed. "How To from another forum" results in the external input fighting the output from the CD player so it's a total bodge.
In addition, as said, the levels would probably require some attenuation as the level at a headphone output is likely too high and the impedance too low.

Sadly, nobody will ever listen to our warnings about this bodge and will carry on regardless - Oh well, more work for our repair centre I guess - I just wish people would listen to the warnings rather than to the rants of the bodgit brigade.

Thanks chaps, all advice very much appreciated. :y
Will probably look to upgrade the CCR 2006 to a DVD install type thing if SWIMBO lets me :D
cheers :y

yes Kevin, that would be a safe and snsible approach.
Need to do a trace through the scms to check which input is used (1, 2 or 3)
Was reading the datasheet on the STM site today.

Can`t see why that wouldn`t work ?
In theory, seems quite a good idea :-?

I was actually thinking about maybe modifying the aux feed pins (two off) on the ISO block to be two mono feeds plus pick up a screen local to them and then cap coupling plus shunt termination resistors before feeding into the switcher.
This should give an aux feed switchable externally and not require any extra loose wires outside of the unit.

Sounds good. The only thing that worries me is that when the "mute" line is active maybe the radio does something silly with the configuration of the gain controls - like mute the rear speakers, or wind down the treble to avoid hiss for example. Suck it and see, I guess.
Will have to pull the head unit out and have a play when I've done the LPG install, and finished the speaker installation, fixed the broken central locking motor,.... ::)

Is there any way to connect I-Pod to CD changer unit (there is only one cable that connects changer with main unit) so that changing CD would move into new folder and we could skip songs?
I’ve seen similar thing for VW group cars, BMW etc, but nothing for Opel/Vx.

Solution !!!!!
There is a product that will be in stock around mid July that will allow the use af an MP3 player or Sat Nav to be used as an auxillery input on any head unit with a standard ISO plug (not sure about BOSE yet)
The device, with its own built in 4x15W amp will plug in line with the ISO speakers from the head unit and allow connection of anything with a 3.5mm jack plug, and will either mute the head unit for MP3 or just the front speakers for Navigation. Volume control will be via a small panel on the dash - very similar to the Parrot phone controls.
Anticipated rrp will be around £59.99 for the whole kit, and I`ll post full details when we get them.
:y
Please, no more screwing about with the head unit internals? :'(

But Dave, you cant expect an Electronic design engineer to do anything else....surely :y

Sparked quite a debate - will wait with baited breathe to see what this is all about before splashing out on a new system and having to flog my rear headrest TV's - plus save me a packet too looking at the RRP. Excellent :y
