Title: Vectra B inlet Manifold
Post by: omega18 on 10 February 2008, 21:00:43
Hi folks

I have just stripped down a Vectra B 2.0l inlet manifold which was caked in a carbon/oil mixtured and the proble is the manifold was sealed with a brown type of silicon sealant (RTV??). I am assumin this is not just ordinary sealant as from wickes? :-?
So what is the best type of sealant and is it available online or from Vauxhall?  :y

Many thanks Karl

Cant say I have ever used ANY sealent on a vectra B manifold before!

There should only be gaskets/seals in use!

AHHH I know but, the manifold has been stripped completly down into its basic components so i could can get to the switchover butterflys that are inside it as they were partially seized.

Its likely to be a fairly run of the mill flange sealent like Loctite 598...

Cheers for that  :y, thinking about it I should have a similar tube of that knocking about from doing the diff oil change.
I couldn't believe the amount of crud that was in the manifold though. It almost spotless now though!!

Many Thanks Karl
