Title: Gremlins.....
Post by: flattyland on 18 August 2008, 19:14:25
Hi all

Wondered if anyone here has any ideas on a couple of electrical problems my '98 Elite has just thrown up?

Yesterday, the drivers electric door stopped moving all the way forward (it looks and sounds like its hitting a limit? but only two inches forward of 'all-the-way-back' position) Fine for me at 6' but 5'2 Mrs Wife is not at all happy :o

Today, went to lock the car up and its gone all irrational on me. Whenever I press lock or unlock, or even use the key something different happens! Sometimes it locks all doors, sometimes one door or two. Sometimes just the boot. Tried resync-ing key and all but to no avail. Even when I lock with the key, the other doors wont lock/unlock. Confused the h*ll out of me?!

The door doesn't slide forward ;)

The seat not moving is invariably a coin jammed in runner.

Not sure about locking issue...

Can you reset the central locking the same as the mini facelift?

might want to check the wiring where it goes through into the door. as for the seat its just like TB says, check the runners for obstructions.

Sorry chaps, electric door eh? ::) Will I never learn...

Anyway, had a good prod around the length of runners with a length of slim brass rod and cant see or feel any obstruction. Surely a coin would be easy enough to see? V. curious...

What is the first part of the seat / runner assembly to take apart so I can get to it, any ideas?

On the plus side, played with the wiring through the door as per Tims suggestion and all locking working again!!!

Guess that means a closer inspection somewhen.

Good job Tim, much obliged
