Title: Installing sat nav
Post by: Omegavirgin on 24 August 2008, 22:15:45
Just a quick one how easy is it to put a complete sat nav from a newer miggy into my 95 3.0 Elite.  I'm sure it's been done before but i dont want to start ripping everything out and make a complete arse of it.

Thanks to everyone who has replied to previous posts you people sure know your stuff.

You can fit the facelift nav into a mini facelift but it's a lot of work,

You'll need a single din nav head unit (NCDR1100/1500), the cage, the loom, a gps antenna, a suitable screen, the appropriate cable from hu to screen, access to a TechII etc etc

For an original 95 car I think i'd stick with a TomTom or similar TBH.

The preface lift carin system goes in easy - no need to change the head unit - there is a guide floating some where

Carin is easy-ish to fit.

Things you have to do is move TC from left of stereo up to switch bank above - though early Elites may not have any switch spaces left, so you may have to lose a function, such as rear dorr demisters.

Other thing, you will have to manually wire it in (6 wires, all in passenger kick panel), as the pre wired ones only came in halfway through 1998.

I should add I retro fitted carin to both mine - tractor was easy as prewired (later 1998), MV6 I had to move TC button, and wire in manually (earlier 1998).
