Title: loud crack and pop from speakers.

last 2 occassions i have used the sat nav i have had some loud pops cracks and bangs from the speakers. I always have either radio or cd on but only get the noise when the sat nav is on as well. Any ideas?

would you also say you get a type of 'snap' noise?



If so, I know exactly what your problem is..........You've got some loose rice crispies somewhere  ;D

 ;D oh yeah, i wondered what happened to the other half of that toffee crisp. First time i thought a stone had hit the wind screen. But then some loose change fell out of my pocket so i thought it was a pound coin landing on the plastic bit between the seat and the door sill. But last night it did it while the mrs drove back from the curry house, i put it on so she would not get lost, not appreciated so i tried to turn it off. It dont like it mid command and i was pushing buttons trying to get it to respond, then snap crackle and pop. May have been a bleep as well, maybe the sat nav laidy was getting all feminist and swearing at me?

Sounds like a failed / failing earth connection somewhere?

Hi Dave, where would i look for the earth? I have a feeling the head unit has been out at some point, as it does not sit in the middle of the centre console,its off to one side, maybe to retro fit the colour screen? I wonder  if something is loose at the back or has not gone back together correctly. I must confes i know fa about ice.

If you have had something retro fitted, I would start there, but to be honest it could be absolutely anywhere. Favourite though would be squashed / pinched / pierced / trapped wired behind the stereo, as fitting anything retro in there is difficult due to the lack of space.

You could try pulling it all forward and see if the problem dissapears with it all hanging out of the dash - whilst an eyesore and difficult to drive like that (sorry, had to say that before some smartarsed comment from somebody) it would at least prove or disprove tat the problem was in that area.
