hi,wondered if any1 can help me out.just bought a cd player for my mv6 which is fitted with bose system,i have power etc but no sound.ive been told due to having a bose system my speakers operate through the bose amp thats y i have no sound and would have to be rewired,is this true? :-/

yes, you have an amp in the boot.
you may have to mypass it by re-wiring the speakers.
with re-gards to using the amp i'm not sure on

Have a read through preevious threads as this has been very well documented.
Essentially, if you are replacing an aftermarket stereo on a BOSE system, its a lot of work. The amp and wiring will all need to be bypassed, but you will also have to replace all the speakers also as the BOSE ones are 2 Ohm as opposed to 4 Ohms that your new stereo is looking for, and if you connect it up you may well burn out the stereo very quickly.

Or replace the amp with one that will run @ 2ohms....add in a little bit of witchcraft and jiggerypokery and you might just have a working system :-/

Not as easy as it appears though !
Most, if not all, aftermarket amps when run at 2 Ohms will run at very high wattage outputs, and the Omega speakers are relatively low power handling, not to mention the sound quality is also often lower as well (one of the reasons that In Car Stuff favours lower wattages for sub frequencies only) Although theoretically possible, you will really struggle to find a small amp that is 2 Ohm compatable, and certainly going to cost ten times more than a set of speakers.
The BOSE system was designed to be perfectly balanced, and if you upset the balance by adding or removing any of its components, you are better off ripping the entire system out and starting again.

Seriously take it from someone who has had not end of trouble with the stupid bose system these past few months, I went down the same channels as yourself fitting an aftermarket unit. power but no sound.
Had to get wires moved around etc (beyond me so i paid someone to make all the speakers run off the head units amp)
But then as more experienced people advised me, speakers are running at 2 ohms instead of 4 and eventually will case headunit damage so you will have to take out ALLL the speakers and change those with aftermarket units aswell so I spent a few hours taking all the door cards off etc and now thinking what to buy next speaker wise :s

Is there still a difference in quality compared to say a latest technology from kenwood or infinity or harrmon Kardon?
I was looking to perhaps do a bose install onto my CDX - but now i'm wondering if there is a lot of point as apposed to doing a current technology install and junking the SC804 and cd changer.
I saw a single din becker unit with built in satnav and bluerinse, and ipod connectivity. - and so much more understated than the kenwood and other japanese LED frenzy offerings.
Sure, the Bose system I was offerred was really attractively priced, but since it came from a car nearly 10 years old - is it really still anything special over say a new becker or blaupunkt head and amp, and infinity or HK speakers?

But does not compare in any way to a good modernaftermarket system, but just make sure you spend a few quid on a decent set of speakers also, as we see too many people buy a decent head unit and then let the whole thing down with a budget set of speakers.
Remember the golden rule - you only get what you pay for

yes if you get it to work with the bose amp the headunits amp will blow up very quickly and dont connect the stereo straight to the speakers as this killed my poor pioneer DEH2300 :(

B&O is very expensive but lovely looking, Bose is expensive cheap tat with excellent marketing

To be fair, both of those looked and sounded very good in their day. But their day was near 20 years ago, and things have moved on . . .
