If your TC switch is above the radio, it will have the plug.
Or is your TC switch to left of radio?
-
I dont have the plugs, and the TC button is the large one to the left of the radio,
I do how ever have the full loom front to rear for the carin system.
-
ok peeps, I've got this fitted now but...
Even though it shows it can see 5 to 8 sats, depending where i am - It thinks Im down south some where, also the Long/Latatude does not up-date, any idea's ?
-
I think this was in another post recently - SatNav mouse on its way out. Think it was Dave DND who mentioned it...but can't find the thread..
-
If only just fitted, it may need a bit of time to adjust and locate itself, as it may still think its in the previous car !! - best thing is to go for a drive for 20 mins or so, and if you have 5 sats showing as claimed, it won`t be long before it has found itself on the map.

Done around 120 miles tonight - up to 8 sats at one point and still thinks it's in Kent...
Going to try a new GPS mouse on it tomorrow
-
tried another GPS mouse - from my tracker thingy and it didnt pick any up :(
Though the Long and lat's do up date its a fair few miles apart when it does and it does not update the location.
does this still point at the GPS mouse ?
-
Could it be the wiring???
-
Could it be the wiring???
Check that the speed pulse wire is working and that the screen installation menu shows that the pulses are being picked up.

Do you know the code for the setup screen by any chance ?
-
right. stop.
The Carin system uses gyros and speed pulses to dettermine location, with GPS as a secondary (and unnecessary) locator. Which makes it fantastic in cities/tunnels/Birmingham's inner ring road!
In Settings is a Car Location function where you tell system the jnc your car is at.
HTH.
The Siemens/VDO ones integrated into Stereo utilise the sats as you would expect, and need about 15mins of driving after car moved on low loader etc to restablish precise location.
-
The service code is 6330 btw
-
And lastly, if your hardware is SY581 and you are running firmware less than v2.3, get it updated - v2.3 puts in nearest town automatically, which saves time...

Righto off to check my speed pluse,
Just to double check - which colour wire is the speed pluse in the main loom, I think its white with a black trace but not sure as not in the car to look

sounds about right.... ....or is that reverse sensor?
does the unit claim you are moving, but just not in right area? If so, use the Car Location option under settings :y
-
Right - it's not getting a speed pluse - if some one can confirm the right wire's I'll sort it in the morning

oh and the map disk is so old it's doesnt seem to have Holyhead on it... would also be causing a problem ?

well the arrow spins around a little and the GPS Long/Lati do update - but it has me in the same road in Kent still...

no speed pulse then - there are 6 wires you need to connect in passenger kick panel, most being power and illumination (to dim display when lights on). but you also need reverse and speed...
-
Ah, reverse worked when I tried under settings mode, just not counting the pulses,
I'll check my wiring tomorrow in the light
Thanks for the input :)
-
Right, now I have a upto date disk in it know's it out side my house, I cant find any thing a miss with the wiring but if some on could confirm

I have circuit diag here, but images server looks like its gone tits up and wont let me upload currently

Speed Pulses = Blue/Red
Reverse = White/Black
Lights = Grey/Green
W contact = Brown/Red
Permenent 12v = Red
0v = Black
Which don't entirely maych yours

Well for the age of the system I'm truly impressed :)
the update map makes a massive difference though :y

My biggest grief with it is speed of entering destination. That aside, I like it, and with up to date maps, is very useful.
