For spending time cleaning up my handbrake so I can get it MOT'd.
A very pleasant day (until I arrived home to a PM box full of 'the oof server is bust'), and once again, I learnt lots :y
Once again, thanks :D
PS, was I supposed to let the rear pads bed in ::) ?

And its quite bizzare feeling when someone else Tech2's your car :o
Still, you could have cleared the DTC from the engine ecu you caused by using improper start procedure ;D

Lets wait for the results on the handbrake test....
And when he does the test make sure teh auto box is in N.....I have seen it done in D which gives a very false reading!

Well, you proved it will lock up at 30mph, so cant see there being a problem...

If she'll lock the back wheels at 30 she should walk the roller test. My 'miggy is 1800 kgs so only needed 288 kgs of effort to pass. It only has to be 16% of weight of car on dual circuit brakes.
Okay who's just hit thier calculator button the keyboard to work out the effort on their 'miggy! ;D ;D

Its back in for retest as we speak.

If it fails, ask him if you can apply the handbrake!
-
Just out of interest, how many clicks should the vehicle hold on for an MOT?
Got a feeling I need to adjust mine a bit.

I've had to leave it there, he couldn't do while-you-wait :(

On an Omega setup the ideal is about 6 clicks......there is no real specific pass fail point but, clearly if the lever is pointing vertical then it cant be operated effectivly from the drivers set!

Not that youve ever seen any like that ::)

Mine was fine until I let someone else move the car.. pulled it up so far I nearly had to get in the back seat to release it, think they may have stretched the cable!
-
not remember mine from a few weeks ago, pull it on fully and it lifts the cubby hole lid ;D

Should be ok now though!
-
tis excellent now! (Thank you!)

I thought mine was OK after I adjusted it. The MOT tester thought otherwise >:(
If it doesn't sail through today, well, I don't know what to do

Handbrake reading (sorry, do not know units)
nsr - 150 - lockup achieved
osr - 80 - no lockup
Can't get another notch on lever to get osr to lock...
-
Apparently not good enough :(
-
NO, not again, that is very bad luck! try a different mot place?
-
Time for some new discs then.....

With the computerised system they have they'd probably see straight away that it'd just failed on handbrake. Besides, there isn't much room for discretion when it's a measured value that's either below or above the limit. :-/

New discs being degreased as we speak. Need to go an retrieve car from near MOT station when Mrs TheBoy gets home.
I have new discs, new pads, new shoes (nobody had pad fixing kit/springs so will have to retro fit them when I can get some).
If that doesn't sort it.....
