Depends on year as to how much needs to match, earlier ones didnt need to be quite as specific...
What year, engine size etc is yours?
-
(i think) on early cars like my 95 2.0 you had to change:
the engine ecu
central locking ecu
immobiliser ecu
transponder in key
transponder receiver round the ignition barrel

its a p reg 2.5 v6 cdx.god if i have to change all that it will be the scrapper for her im afraid

For a 97 Omega you will only need to change the ECU, pickup round the ignition barrel and key chip...all very easy to do yourself...
Best to find one from same year engine size gearbox type and wheel size...saves any reprogramming but most important would probably be engine size and gearbox type
Is yours auto or manual?
