what causes these to malfunction? they are sealed units and as far as i can see there is no damage to the led's or the tracks. yet on 2 of mine I have random led's out or just dim.

I've replaced 2 on mine over the years, Irmscher/dealers take around £50.00 for a new one :(
But I got a new white one on ebay for £25.00

LED's dont like car electrics.....the noise and V spikes destroy them.
Should be easy enough to re-LED though if you can get in them

not good news for someone with one of those c-max cars, the whole back light is led's :o

Most of them now use specific LED driver IC's to maintain the current and voltage plus protect from spikes etc.....so the should be ok
