Title: kenwood for a vw polo, or...
Post by: feeutfo on 16 December 2008, 16:22:39
does anyone have a better idea? 99 mk 4 has stock head unit with cassette,no cd, there is a space for a changer under the radio but the changer is 3 times ar much as a head unit with ipod connection. Seen kenwood w5541u in halfords for 99. Fits the interior colours, red and blue(gay) lights. Cant really stretch to more than £100, which brings me to my real point. This ipod business, "full speed" or whatever its called, it displays the name and track number on the head unit. So, does this mean you can run a cable to the glove box or where ever, plug your ipod in and leave it in there. Then you just operate the ipod from the head unit?

The above mentioned kenwood has a plug in the front apparently this means no full speed, im told,  just connectivy and operate the ipod itself from its own display/interface i guess?

Any thoughts greatly received, hope its ok not to post about omegas just this once? Prety please, its for the Mrs birthday present, so im counting on you...Tia
Chris.

Oh, are they on the gay list too? Blue leds as well.
This is a particularly gay ipod then as its a 3rd generation  job which is well known for not working with othe kit. We have an iluv doc radio cd alarm clock and although it will play it wont interact with the iluv via its interface. So tend to agree with tb...
gay product, defo. But she likes so what do i know?

Yep, you got it.
Maybe Davednd will pop in during office hours, although another member has made a very good offer on a pioneer, im researching like mad but would like to get some other opinions too, from those in the know. :-)

The car has a space for a cd changer directly under the radio so a double din (or dim in my case) would fit but would be more money. Pioneer fh p80bt looks the part but for the size you might ar well have a colour screen in there, but then your talking serious money, and it is only a polo after all, which she doesnt really use enough to warrant the cash spending. Decisions decisions.
I worry about security with aftermarket stuff ar well.
