think something happened to the radio wont turn on just bose display any ideas checked fuses under drivers side 20amp
-
Try removing it and reseating it again (you need some radio removal tools for a double din head unit - Hellfrauds etc sell them)
-
hi all tried removing it a couple of times with the removal keys just wont come out sure might be the fuse behind the unit
-
anybody around london with nack for extracting head unit i have removal keys thanks all
-
sorry, too far north...
didn't this happen before?
-
hi removed head unit replaced fuse radio unit still powerless no more ideas any help appreciated and no i did ask for satnav help before but now my radio has no power the whole head unit is unlit?any ideas please
-
had similar when re seating the dash after changeing the dash bulbs. Had to unplug the cid etc to get dash out. On re fitting, the cid did not work and only had lights on head unit. Eventually figured out i did not dis connect the battery first, so it probably thought it was being stolen.
Maybe pull head unit out, dis connect the battery re install, re connect battery(and reset windows and sun roof).
Or just try dis connecting battery for 10 mins first just to see if that saves the removal agro? Might be worth a try. Hth

hi i dont even get the lights on the head unit thanks
-
hi tried disconnecting battery to no avail still wont come on still think its a fuse somewere lights on steering wheel for radio cd extras controls not working either
-
Might be worth checking the mini 10 Amp fuse on the back again.
-
why check again?
-
'cause it seems to be the obvious thing to check on a dead head unit.
-
and while checking that fuse ... check you have 12v going into it .. if you do . the problem is on the headunit side, if you don't .. the problem is a power supply problem ...
It always pays to split an electrical system down into power, unit, return (0v, earth, - call it what you will) when fault tracing. Just guessing is rarely productive.
My way is .. take of the plug into the unit, check for power in and 0v continuity out at the plug .. once those are known to be good, then the headunit will be the faulty component

IIRC it's all driven by F12 but as the display is working it doesn't seem as though that fuse has gone (I think it also drives the boot lamp and hazard warning lamps) hence why the fuse on the back of the unit seems a good option.
Think it's also worth trying the reseating again as well. When you insert the removal keys try pushing them outwards as you feed them in then try and pull the unit out with them pressed inwards. :y

Question.......how loose is the units front panel?
-
head unit is not loose display only shows bose sign nothing else wont move show anything else
-
So, the front panel (facia, not radio) sits nice and snug with the surrounding facia in the car.....
-
yes that is correct nice and snug

from memory, when off and black and red bose logo is displayed, on mine only the on off volume knob is lit, this knob has been problematic on mine, sometimes does not respond when pressed. I prolonged press is required. But if the on off knob is not lit, as you say, and the fuse under stearing wheel is ok, then only thing left is supply/fuse to the back of the unit. If thats ok, only really leaves the unit itself as said, imho.
-
Assuming both lives are present at the back of the radio (measured with a meter and not guessed because the fuse is ok)
Check for dry joints on the back of the on/off switch, very common failure of the double din vauxhall head range unit due to the pressure of thumping the switch being greater than the amount of solder on the back of them. Care needs to be taken if stripping them down, but as most people inadvertantly rip the fascia off by incorrect forced removal of these units anyway, it`s always worth checking the switch joints as a preventative measure anyway.
