Title: rear left light fuse keeps blowing.
Post by: pez on 12 December 2008, 12:24:03
Hi,

I am a newbie with a problem which started last night.

I have a 1998 elite 2.5L estate, you see my left tail light has stopped working.I replaced the bulb and  fuse, but it seems the 10amp fuses I am using are blowing every time I switch on.The fog rear lights come on ok on the same faulty light bulb, and the wiring loom looks factory standard and ok to me.I also have a tow bar fitted, never used since I have had the car(3 years) and I have no fuse it it anyway.

Any ideas people, any any advice appreciated.

I would check your tow bar wiring, more than likely if its not a gen vauxhall tow bar loom then it will have been scotch locked into the left hand side wiring somewhere behind the plastics, the wires can corrode due to condensation and they can break (shorting to 0v) causing what you describe.
