Title: needed Immobiliser bypass or something
Post by: peterklepec on 28 December 2008, 21:30:53
We were transplanting engine from omega to frontera, when we connected everything back, the engine would not start because ECU was getting no response from immo. We know that the engine works, beacuse we did run it on megasquirt, but it does not start on it`s original ECU. Now i would like to buy a unit , but would also like to make shure that i will not end up with two dead ECU`s. Enigine is x25xe made in 1999. Any thoughts on that? our unit was motronic 2.8.1

Any suggestion would be helpful.  Also i thank you for reading this.

The immobiliser is a built-in function of the M2.8.1 and can't be disabled. You need the engine ECU, immobiliser transceiver unit from the steering column and the transponder chip from the ignition key, all of which must be paired with each other to work.

.. or stick with the Megasquirt. I have done a lot of dabbling with them in the past (I run one on my "other car").

If you have the ecu and matching transponder and key chip being used it should all work...if the immobiliser is not getting a signal then the EML will flash rapidly...if not then its probably something else...

What's megasquirt?

It's a home made mappable fuel injection and ignition ECU for people who like to fiddle with such things on a DIY basis.
