I got the main dealer to have a look at my CCRT 2008 unit as it was showing PROGRAM with no sound. They came back and said it is an internal short circuit within the unit which will cause the battery to drain. They said there is nothing they can do.
Anyone else heard of an internal short circuit?
-
Not possible....an internal short would cause the fuse to blow!
-
Do you mean blow a fuse in the radio unit or screw up the electrics?
-
It would blow a fuse on the radio unit.
As said in the past, everytime I have seen program displayed its because no varient config code is programmed into the unit
-
As I said in previous thread, it really does sound like it has no code index (config) on it.
However, this unit is basically a ccrt700 with a CDC3 multichanger built in, and we know these items do occasionally get corrupted eproms.
-
I agree, incorrect or corrupt data could certainly cause a battery drain - I`m presuming that you have the correct changer etc for the head unit etc, as the wrong software version of, for instance, changer connected could cause similar problems.
Does PROGRAM still show with the ancilleries disconnected?

The changer is semi-integral, similar to CCR2006 (although the changer itself has a CCRT config on it - settable via Tech2)
-
Worth seperating the changer and unplugging the ribbon to see if the PROGRAM fault lies with the old favourite of the changer eeprom then?
-
I think we are all missing the bleeding obvious.
Its a new unit and its not had the config entered via tech2......hence program on the screen.
The changer is not even accessed until its selected via the headunit :y
And its not quite a CCRT700 either, they are quite a bit different internally
-
Thanks for all the replies.
The facia is in reasonable condition, the lights works so possible is not that old.
So how do I tell these nice people here to enter the code configuration program via the Tech 2?
Alternatively I could wait until I get back to the UK in the summer and get it done then?
To reiterate, when you switch it on PROGRAM displays, then it looks like its working fine but no sound. The word PROGRAM is there for about 2 secs then goes away. Tape, radio CD player all workig.

Ah ! I was unwares that it was an unconfigured unit ::)
