You on about the MID/TID display? Only reads outside temp, sensor is behind front bumper - passenger side for prefacelifts, middle for facelifts
-
ok thanks, i will have a look.

Interesting. Mine has been faulty for months, started displaying -30 + all the time. tried numerous sensors including brand new and still the same. Just says F now. Not had the battery off though I don't think!!

Check the wiring to the sensor for breakages....normaly within the last 200mm before the connector

I had the same problem. Replaced the sensor twice but it did not fix it. I started checking the wire for breaks but found none. However I traced the wires back until I reached an electrical connector box under the bumper just in front of the front passenger side wheel. When I disconnected the connector a little bit of water came out from inside. Once I had dried everything out and refitted it, it worked fine from then on.
This happened during a few weeks of very very wet weather and driving on roads with lots of standing water.

I will have a look for that, is it covered by cowling or anything or is it in plain view?

It's in plain view but you might have to get on your back to get under the front bumper to see it. Just trace the wires from the sensor until you come across the connector. It's easy to find.

Apologies for hi-jacking this thread a bit. I have found a second plug from following the wiring back I am not sure if it is the connector box you were describing but I think this may be my problem, it had mould & scum all over it as if it had been wet before. I cleaned it up but I think one of the pins has coroded away and broke. See Pics

My outside temperature sensor went tits up a few days ago in the very cold weather......was reading 55-67centigrade..........now that the weather has warmed up a little .........it is working perfectly again.
Perhaps the sensors do not like prolonged cold weather. :y :y :y

I think your right but to me it seems like water does the most damage. Vauxhall never seem to have mastered keeping sensors from getting wet!! :'(

Yep, thats exactly the one that was full of water on mine. It was not corroded though so it was an easy fix.

Sound, Looks like i'm gonna just join the wires up like mark suggested. Just hope thats all thats wrong with it. :-/

UPDATE: Went to Markey marks yesterday for timing kit and waterpump fitting. All went well. We also fixed the outside temp fault. It was the plug that RichardH mentioned. Mark cut and soldered the wires together and now it works perfectly.
Thanks RichardH for pointing this out, and thanks again to Mark for sorting it out. Not even Vauxhall thought about checking that plug, but I suppose thats no suprise!
Cheers
Hope this helps others having issues with their temp sensors. :y

Glad you got it sorted. It can be really annoying having that problem, and always a relief to get it fixed.

Yeah!! Now my climate is working properly again. Its great!! hehe
