Title: Using a gps to play mp3s
Post by: hollywood on 27 January 2009, 23:31:19
I have a garmin nuvi GPS unit which has a headphone audio out jack on it along with a sd card slot to load mp3s.

Does anyone know of a way to connect that to my Bose stereo and play songs from the GPS ?

Unfortunately none of the Omega head units have a line input so you're limited to using a cassette adaptor or an FM modulator, unfortunately.

I remember reading somewhere that one of the head-units can accept a aux in.  I can't see the pictures in work, but I think this is the link to the pic of the car with the HK mp3 kit installed to a CCR600.

If you are lucky enough to find one of the very few Vauxhall head units that will accept an AUX IN, you will find that it is generally a MONO signal designed for a Phone, not stereo as needed for MP3.

Most Omega HU's have an aux in, but mono and lo-fi for carphones. Music has to be via cassette adapter or modulator as Kevin Wood suggests
