What would cause a CID to switch itself on when the car is unattended?
I have a Nokia CK-7W attached to the prewiring so I wondered if it could be a problem there or maybe a problem with the headunit not making a good contact with the ISO plug?
Ideas?

Can`t comment on your own problem, however, it is not unusual for other aftermarket car kits with long standby times when ignition switched off to apply power to various circuits around the vehicle depending on how and where they are wired in, and this is often triggered by a change of state of some kind.
Instances that would cause your phone to momentary beep, loss of signal, need charging, sms, etc etc, some of these can cause a signal state to change and to put power back up a mute wire or to switch an ignition feed back on within the phone kit.
Do you have something with a SIM connected when this does this, or is it a kit that does this even if the phone has been removed?

CK-7W is a bluetooth / pop port car kit (even though I never use the bluetooth - I always use the cradle as it charges the phone and connects to the outside aerial).
The phone wasn't connected at the time, just noticed that the CID is on but the radio off occasionally when I return to the car. Tonight the battery was flat on the car when I went to start it.
The kit and the connecting loom was in my last Omega (in fact so was the head unit and screen as I swapped them into this car) so I had initially assumed that they were OK.

That's about where my thought process had took me, I had noticed that you can turn the HU / Screen on when they are off by docking the phone.
Think I might disconnect the telemute from the prewiring to try and prove the point.

I'd be fairly surprised if the CID coming on flattened a battery, unless it was over a week or so .. can't draw much current surely ???
I accept that it is a problem .. but I'd be concerned about the general health of the battery/charging system as well .. ??

It pulls a fair whack - the heat it gives off gives a reasonable clue...

Fair enough .. I'll get back in me box .. :) never felt the CID ... but guess what I'll be doing next time I'm out .... :)

Charging system is fine, i've tested that. Battery seems reasonably healthy and holding it's charge after ignition off and stablised over the last 6 hours.

You won't feel much unless you take the dash out

I would remove the Ignition supply feed to the Car Kit and see what happens with regard to the CID, and would take the supply directly from the rear of the ignition switch if the problem was solved.
If makes no difference, unplug Car Kit completely and see if the problem is still there. At least you can rule it out.

I'm guessing that for some reason the bluetooth kit reattached to phone, thus powering up radio. I have seen this with my CK-7W (or rather I went to make a call from garden (phone doesn't work indoors), but could only faintly hear the other party - coming from the car ;D

It's not re-attaching to the phone via BT as I checked the phone when I saw the CID on. Only other thought is that it's attaching to someone else's phone - well it is a standard pairing code!
Thinking possibly faulty CK-7W. As said, easiest option is to unplug the kit and see what happens.

Will do Dave, going to remove it all on Tuesday as i've got a day off, thinking of shortening the telemute autolead loom (If I can find my soldering iron and the heat shrink tubing!) as there is far more loom than is required.

Ah! If you are using the Autoleads loom, you may be using the universal ISO one and not the Vauxhall one. In which case, the lives are almost certainly the wrong way round.

Seemed alright in my last identical Omega - This is the Bose Autoleads loom with the Transformers built on.
