Is it possible to buy a set of headlights from a Right hand drive car and install on a Left hand drive? Would the auto adjustment sort itself out or are the lights just set up differently?
I have those horrible plastic lenses and I'm thinking of changing the headlights altogether.

I'm not certain, but on my headlights I have a lever on the back of the headlights that stops the lights pointing to the left for driving abroad, but they only adjust them to point straight ahead...
I should therefore imagine LHD Mig lights will stop lights pointing right to centre, if you see what I mean...

I can't see why not. Shouldn't be a problem doing the physical work apart from being careful with the extremely high voltage that the lights use. However if I remember correctly the level settings need to be done using a Tech 2 i.e. you can't just twiddle some screws.
I have RHD xenons adjusted for continental driving using the levers. The light level from them is rubbish. The beam changes from symetrical to asymetrical (or vice versa can't remember). Having said that the beam pattern is still good enough to get through the Spansih equivalent of an MOT.

I found some LHD headlights on ebay, item no 370126166731, these are pattern type from Depo.
Are these any good and what is Depo or pattern headlights?
Thanks
-
Not 100% sure but I think maybe the HID ones can be switched from left to right pattern due to the way they work...the normal projector headlights etc only set it to straight on flat pattern rather than over to LHD...
-
Thanks. So pattern refers to whether it is set up for left or right.
One other question. Is it possible to get headlights with a glass lens or are they all plastic these days? If I buy these cheaper ones off ebay (Depo) in Germany, are they likely to turn yellow quickly?
A pair of new lights here costs QR4,000 which is about GBP 750. The ones from Germany cost about GBP 400.

No! The beam pattern will be wrong.
If genuine gm you will need the correct head light for what ever side of the road your on. Uk lights have uk beam pattern, the lever adjustment only flattens the beam. It does not give the correct opposite beam. So there are 2 sets of gm lights, one set left handed, one set right handed.
However non genuine lights that i have seen( made it taiwan, crap build but good beam on the road) have an adjuster lever(crap access) that gives both beam patterns, so one set of taiwan lights does both sides of the road.
I think there may be an issue with fit on early and later models, but someone else will be along to confirm that.

Just wanted to know, are the headlights plastic or glass these days. If plastic, will it eventually yellow?
-
All plastic...you can just t cut the yellow off the lens mate...with a bit of work they will come up like new...

Cleaned the outside with rubbing compound which removes the yellowing, but how do you clean the inside? Do you have to completely remove the headlight and then the lens? The inside is very dirty.

Remove the light and use a hairdryer to make the glue gooey that holds the lens on then gently remove it...the hairdryer also softens the lugs that hold it in place so you can ease them off one by one...once done, use the hairdryer to soften it all again to gently ease it all back into place and use sealant to make sure its water tight again :y

Thanks for that. Only problem is I don't have any hair. ;D I'll have to borrow the wifes hairdryer.
