I am always put off by anyone using words like "The car will be advertised locally so if it sells then will be removed from the auction". Either it is for sale on an auction website or not.
No mileage. ?
Part exchange car?

... And no doubt if you won the item and decided not to buy, he'd go on about how your bid is legally binding, etc.. >:(

...To be honest i do use this line when i am selling.
However i do often advertise in more than one place. At the end of the day i guess any seller is looking at their own profit and not the experience of the potential buyer..unless they are in business.
Looks an intresting project - maybe when i get my Cherokee road legal i need to tow Scotland nearer to the endless amount of projects that are currently too far away ::)

Its a retail 3.2 MV6 with a Manual gearbox, I thought the only 3.2 manual produced was for the police?

It's a 2.6, isn't it?

It's a 2.6 buddy, and you can get the 3.2 manuals, they are just rare. Plus this is definatley not an ex-plod due the lovely cow.
Hang on, this car might only be fit for spares, as far as I am aware, the engine knocking as he describes coulde be the big ends. Which, is that not rather rare for Miggy's? Then would the car not have been looked after rather poorly, meaning other bits on the car could be in a similar condition to the engine?
Might not be such a good fixer upper in my opinion. :-?
-
Depends on his description of knocking.
Big end failure would probably indicate that it's either been seriously neglected, run low on oil or run with low oil pressure without it being rectified. However, the noise could also be rattly tappets, manifold blowing, etc. which are more common and less terminal.
If it is the big ends, it really needs the engine out for an overhaul or a swap for a known good one. Too much work for a fast buck but an opportunity for someone to refurbish it to a good standard.
Shame the mileage is omitted (and photo of the interior carefully avoids it)

So it is, wonder where I got 3.2 from.
Just in from work and a bit tired, That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. ;D

Do 2.6's have the long plenum then?
-
Do 2.6's have the long plenum then?
Yes, its needed to accomodate the bulky drive by wire throttle motors.
-
The 2.6 engine has a history of failed oil pumps, so my pal tells me, Not very often but it is a known problem that vx are aware of. :y
-
Look on bottom of ebay page. Someones asked about the mileage & seller answered 97k. Sounds iffy to me. Shame, could be a peachy Mig but i doubt the mileage. :-/

Ok.. 2.5 is better with the short plenum, 2.6 should have the short plenum, but can't due to DBW issues.
3.0, thats better with the extended plenum right?

If you got it for the right price the wheels are worth it and the mv6 leather trim and thats just to start with so like i say for the right price if you carnt sort it break it..

Plenums - not sure, well the 2.6 is 350cc smaller than 3.0 and 100cc bigger than 2.5 so it could be borderline
