Four beeps when you switch ignition on/off (can't remember which) or general unpredictabilty, false alarms, etc.

Disconnect it pronto if it is playing up in case the battery leaks and shorts out.

The batteries are just standard PCB mounted NiCd or NiMh cells. The main issues are cutting the sounder open for access and resealing it and getting there before the batteries have leaked all over the board and rendered it FUBAR.

At the moment it is occasionally going off when the ignition is turned on and it has also started to sound while driving the car  :-[ does that sound like the batery on its way out  :question

Yes mate that sounds just like the sounder batteries dying. just disconnect it mate. You still have the main alarm horn as the sounder is only there if somebody disconnects the main car battery.
P.S. when you've unplugged it test your alarm (bonnet switch is the easiest way) just to make sure your alarm horn works.
Mine was duff so had to buy a new one (think about £15)

I have pulled the power sounder out today , question is as I was moving it about with out the wires disconnected it kept giving short burst of noise  :-[ , that was with ignition on or off  :-/ I know the batteries are possibly FUBAR but should this have happened and should it have gone off when it was disconnected  :question.
I had a spare unit I have had kicking around for a while and this seems to be behaving at the moment .
I am going to try to take the old one apart and just see whats going on in there .
I have noticed there are a few people having problems with these at the moment I am wondering if the change in weather may be doing something to them  :-/
