Title: Help with Drilling through Plastic of Bulkhead.
Post by: Christian on 26 March 2009, 16:09:03
Because im fitting 4 Awg cable through out the Mig ive managed to squeeze it through the first Grrommit for the Amplifier , However im a little paranoid about making a hole through the secong Grommit and looking up the Dash inside the car i dont wanna go poking a drill through it because of the amount of wires.

I was thinking for saftety measurment that below the Pollen filter housing there is a Plastic surround below the flap just by the Fan , would it be ok to drill me a nice hole and fitted the correct size grommit here?

Has anybody tackled this with bigger cable.

I can se its quite an easy job for 6 Awg plus!

Thanks  :)

Im using 4awg on the Denon and i went through the pollen housing the other grommet with loads of wires in looked to dangerous to drill through (Due to Wires!!)

i went through the pollen filter and took the passengere airbag out and with abit more jiggery pokkery got it through and then down the cars passenger side loom  :y and into the boot had too drill a fair few holes though and needed lots of silicon

some kind soul had already ran a Handfree power cable wire through the pollen filter so i attempted to copy that routing

Yea i see where your coming from, i think im going to just drill a hole from inside out (then wires arnt a problem) then get the correct size grommit!

Should do the trick  :)

I just did mine, drilled through from the inside, sort of between the pollen filter and one grommet.

Hardest thing is getting the drill bit to bite, as it's tight in the footwell you have to drill at an angle. I just started with a small bit and progressed up to the size I needed.
