Post by: raywilb on 30 March 2009, 19:04:08
i renewed the glow plugs not long ago , but starting has become a problem again . can i do a test on them without removing the inlet manifold. leakoff pipes were also renewed. Any Ideas what may be the problem.  Thanks in advance  :)

Yes, can measure from where it plugs into relay in engine bay relay box...

Also check the relay is doing its job and not intermittently arcing across its contacts (had it before). The relay goes straight to the battery and then 12v to each heater on cold start (give the relay a few taps on cold start), as TB say’s says check the relay output on cold start, each relay wire should see a decent battery voltage. Also measure each wire to the heaters. should be around 1 ohm to neg. earth (ing off).
