The blue switches they were doing on VXON looked good.

apparently the blue led kits are not too clever, too bright and the mid/dash display goes dim. Or something like that. No personal experience of that or their other side effect, being gay. But The Boy will tell you all about that no doubt. :-) snigger...

i used one of those red colored filing inserts as a experiment , it did not come out to bad but im still busy making it better . you should be able to use any color in theory .

problem with LED kits on the Omega, apart from making people question your sexuality, is the car is heavily set up to use lightguides, which require the lift to leave the bulb/LED sideways.

Now the problem with LEDs is the narrow viewing angle, so don't work well with lightguides at all.  Add that to the fact the gay blue ones are ultrabrites, you get a strange effect - those illuminations that come from tip of bulb are too bright, dazzling and distracting at night, and those parts that rely on lightguides are too dim - eg, MID unreadable in daylight.

Oh, and blue LEDs, no matter what the application, are gay.

Any aftermarket HU should be able to match the illumination in the car, which is a better solution.

LEDs have their place as indication devices. They are shite at any form of illumination.

Blue ones, on any device, are my pet hate, and gay as Dale Winton.

No, not me usually!  The only time I have used them was on my old Carina II in the door handle recesses to illuminate them. :D ;)

Yes, and they were blue! ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

1) Leds as stated have a narrow frontal area of illumination, which makes them ideal as indicator lights on electrical equipment. The lateral output is zilch, which is what we need for the dashboard illumination. This same problem occurs when you try to convert the Technics sl1200 turntable illumination. the fix here is to use very small blue leds mounted at 90degs on a small sub circuit board. Might need major surgery to illuminate from behind the dials.
About 25 years ago I used a blue plastic perspex filter on my Vx Royale with limited results.

2)Blue is the worst color for an instrument panel. Red (and green) allow the eyes the re-focus more quickly when looking alternately from distance to near, and back to distance. Notice how "fuzzy" the blue can appear on VW's.
Ask why no other manufacturer uses blue.
Now why do you think that is.????

3) HU's used to have alternate color illuminations. Denon did this years ago.

Blue was cool. agree now a bit "gay"   ::) is white the new blue?
