Hi All,
I've a belter for you here, local mechanic suggested that the reason why my wipers don't always stop could be due to the switch being broken inside. Changed that, no joy so he said then it must be the motor, so I've just fitted a replacement and guess what they still have a mind of their own. Any clues?

My money would have been on the relay in the first place ;D

It was the parking contacts in the motor in my case but the intermittent timer is also plausible. If it's the motor it's best to get a 2nd had one as Vx quoted silly money and they are not really repairable IMO.

I would have a look at the connector to the wiper motor and check all the wires back, chances are they have shorted together at some point, but for the cost of a relay why hasnt he changed that ?

Good news, after your superb advice the new relay arrived from GM (eventually, after being sent to Essex and after the local dealers "we've never had to order one of those" comment) my wipers now work intermittently and more importantly stop when switched off, and as an added extra the engine emissions warning light has gone out as well - Happy MV6 owner again!

I do not understand what that has got to do with the wiper relay. :-?
I would have thought that must be another problem, but perhaps a better informed member will answer that one! ::) ::) :D :D ;)

Beats me, too. :-/
I would try a "pedal trick" to see if we can work out what the EML was about. Its it a 3.2 by any chance?
