Title: towbar wiring
Post by: chrisl_1960 on 16 April 2009, 21:22:30
I'm going to fit a towbar to my facelift saloon, is it correct that there's a pre-wired loom I can use behind the rear boot panel?

is there any general problems with this? I've fitted and wired towbars to various cars over the years, but never to an Omega.

grateful for any help and advice

andyc is the man to ask ask re specific loom to plug in, I would imgine there is  :-/. If you remove the trim from the rear edge of the boot, you'll find a round-ish socket that has all the trailer connection plus a larger red 12v supply for your caravan's fridge & charging. If you use this socket, you'll find the brakes (yellow/black) doesn't work. You need to fit a trailer brake light check 'relay' behind your glovebox (or short the terminals with a jumper wire) Also note the the black/blue rear fogs is intended for a GM 8 wire 12N socket ie it uses a micro switch in the side of the socket so that when you plug your 12N in it turns off your car's rear fogs.
