Title: Key Reprogramming
Post by: MutantCav on 20 April 2009, 17:36:44
My "My Naff Code Reader" can reprogram the entire system now it seems...just need to get my car pass from Vaux and away I go...

So how do I go about this?? Get a key and have it cut the same as the existing one...and put the blank key chip in the key...put it in the ignition barrel and code the new chip??...what about the central locking circuitry??

Is it really that easy?

seem to recall an oddity with "My Naff Code Reader" key programming, so check the manual that they supply with it :)

I think you will find "My Naff Code Reader" will only program 'new' keys, not ones that have been coded before, 2nd hand for want of better wording.

That i believe is the 'oddity', however i have never paid out for a new key to find out  :)

It is very handy to see how many keys have been coded to your car (4 on my Facelift, but i only had 2!!) and allows you to remove the ones you don't have

Didnt know you could reprogram old keys was imagining using new anyway...still a shed load cheaper than getting a replacement spare from Vaux :y

Yeah it says I'm using key 2 and I dont have key 1 so want to get it sorted just to be on the safe side
