Considering buying last year's models of 1080p LCD's at 15,000:1 contrast ratio. However, this year's models are 25,000:1. Old 40" is 750 quid, new one is 1,000. Is it worth the difference? Didn't see any other big change.
It looks more tempting on the 46" LCD's, 1,400 vs 1,100 quid, but then I look at the new 46" being almost twice the cost of the old 40"! :o And then I'm right back where I started, looking at more reasonable price 40's.

It is about more than just the contrast ratio and 15,000:1 will be more than enough. :)
Seeing the reduction in the prices of last years stock I would go for one of them.
Panasonic are winning awards all over the place for their lcd's.
Also Marks tv (he will advise the model) is highly recommended and will probably now come in at that sort of money.
I have a 40" tv and it is a good size. Ylou need a damn big room to justify a 46" model.

I don't know about the big room, I find 32" is too small now and I sit around 5-6 foot from the TV
-
i got an lcd with contrast ratio of 1500-1 and its spot on, its a DMTECH, dont laff, it had a better pic than the sharp next to it

Thanks, the other features seem to be the same so I was just comparing the contrast ratios. I think that Mark has one of the main ones that I am looking at.
Funnily enough, the issue is being able to play Xbox with 2 people without having to pull the sofa closer to the TV. ::) ;D

Are you saying that I missed my calling? :-/ Actually, I started Uni in computer science or some such, can't remember now. Main thing I hate about writing software is being stuck at a desk all day. >:(

At work we have identified that softies (as they are referred to) have chipped Xboxes (but rarely play games unless its on a Wii) and appear to be the only people who buy Apple products including iphones ;D ;D ;D

I develop software - I have NO Apple products, and no XBox, but do have a couple of Playstations, and I don't like the Wiii

Getting closer to deciding on this;

Will reconsider at the end of April when ready to buy. If prices have dropped then may go for one of the others.

Thats the one I have and I am very pleased with it.
Takes a bit of buggering around with the colours to get it to your liking.
