Title: Is it Bose ?
Post by: Justdave on 12 May 2009, 10:57:27
Can anyone help me !! I've just bought a 'new' (supposedly) Bose configured CCR2006 from a Vx main dealer, when I switched the old radio on the display used to say 'Bose sound' when I switch the new radio on the display flashes 'code' for a split second and then goes to normal.

Am I being ripped off ? has the dealer sold me standard CCR2006 ? would a standard one work ? how can I tell what I've got ? also the radio came with no CD magazine ! no instruction manual ! no mounting cage ! is this normal ?

One more thing, although the rear speakers do work they are not as powerful / loud as the front, it seems all the base is to the front speakers, bearing in mind I have a sub in the back !! does the sub fade out if I fade to the rear speakers ?

Cheers

Its certainly normal for a replacement radio not to come with any ancilleries such as manual, cartridge etc, as its always assumed that you are buying a like for like replacement and therefore already have those bits.

Can`t advise on the rest though, but someone will be along shortly

Cheers Dave, that makes me feel a little bit better as that's what the dealer said, but the other bits are so annoying  >:(

May need a Tech2 to configure the new radio

This is something that crossed my mind however the dealer is saying Tech2 has nothing to do with the radio but I'm not sure if he knows what he's on about as they haven't exactly covered themselves in glory !

If its bose, the volume control increases volume nice and smooth, if non bose, the lower volume steps are noticible volumewise

When using the control knob on the set it seems to get to a low point then staight to nothing with one notch if that makes sence !

That sounds to me like the head unit is NOT configured to BOSE

I believe  the ones that are Bose on units from the box are called something like CCR2006b...take it back get what you ordered or get the Vaux dealer to tech2 it to be bose on for free :y

The says there are two units CCR2006 & CCR2006 b with the b indicating Bose however this only shows on their screen for ordering purposes and does not show on the unit --- I think they're talking sh*te but I want to be absolutely sure before I make a fool of myself !

Correct, not all versions are configurable to bose.

I keep hitting a brick wall with the dealer, all they say is "that's a Bose radio and that's the one for your car" but I'm not convinced plus the fact when I switch it on it doesn't say Bose sound in the display where as the old unit did and this along with the information from the guys on the forum doesn't fill me with confidence.

If 'Tech2ing' the thing is a true way of finding out whether or not it is or isn't a Bose radio then is there anyone in out there who can Tech 2 it ? I'd sooner pay someone who knows what they're on about than mess about with a dealer who hasn't a clue.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Called the guy from Lookers Ellesmere Port today, can't praise the guy enough he was very helpful and he certainly does know his stuff. I gave him all the info I had and part numbers etc and he confirmed it is indeed a Bose radio. As for not getting the 'Bose sound' in the display, this is because the set is slightly different and it supercedes the older unit and has slightly different characteristics.

To the service manager at Ellesmere if you're reading this once again thanks for your troubles.
