The second relay in engine relay box when looking towards the car.
What is this relay for if anyone knows?
IWhen I bought the car it was missing but can see the wires leading to the relay base so not sure what does it do or should it be missing
-
Not sure if this is the one for your motor, I keep a link to it as it was for mine !!! (the old miggy )

Oh yes! I stopped looking after the first 2. ::)
We might as well have them all then, shame to miss out the 2.0 engines

Looks to be for headlamp washer which ever car it is. ;)

Autodata says relay number 2 is the cooling fan relay

Snap !! I was just thinking the same with all three in different windows and flicking betwen them !!
So if the OP doesn't have xenon's, he won't have headlamp washers, so won't need the relay .. :)

That'll be on a car with no washers .. the guy is on aboout the one in the gap in your picture IMHO .. :)

I think Matt is missing the relay that would live in the gap on your diagram ie between 1 & 2 :y

The picture I provided is the relay box that is under his bonnet, so I'm guessing if there is a gap in the picture then there is a gap in real life.
However, he did say the second relay in when looking from the front, so.....

In my experience Autodata is not the most accurate of systems .. it'll show the fitted relays but not any unfitted relay holders .. if you get my drift !!!
The diagrams from Mark DTM show all the options, so I'd be more inclined to go by them .. but thats just my opinion !!

Ideed,he said it was missing. :y I suppose he could have said, 'here's a gap in the 2nd relay position on my car, what might the relay be for that goes in it? '

Marks diagram was for a completely different model, so I don't really see how it was applicable to be honest.

OK we give in. You're right again ....... :-X :-X :-X :-X
See if you find out from Autodata what lives in the gap bewtween 1 & 2 relay positions! All three of Marks diagrams, which show ALL relay bases have the 2nd base in as being for the headlamp wash.

It has nothing to do with being right.
The OP was shown links to 2 images, neither of which he actually had under his bonnet.
Let's at least give him half a chance to at least clarify what he is talking about by showing him the the right image to start with eh?

Hi guys I'm sorry you waited but couldn't get sooner on the forum.
From what I see I presume it is the Test Connector - without aircon relay. Violet colored one (didn't know the exact colour name)
But the car is facelift and has aircon so the relay isn't supposed to be there at least that is my conclusion.
But something is confusing a bit.
There are two schematics for x25 and x26 engines so not sure which one I should look into.
There is also a possibility that it could be a time delay relay for headlight and windscreen washer
