Hello Boys
Need some advice about my alarm.
After close the car and turn on the alarm I see the led flashing 10 seconds indicating something open.
Already checked all sensor (doors, bonnet, boot) and nothing any ideas ?? Also brake light came again after changing the bulb 1 month ago (could it be interfiring in the alarm ??) last week cleaned all the plastic under the windscreen. (water over the spark plugs finally solved)
Any help ?????

hmmm, my led stays on constant for 10 seconds once locked, then flashes slowly once set. Leaveing a door open during that process makes no difference to its flahing or whatever. I am also assuming yours would be the same( asume nothing, always a bad idea)
false alarms are usually one of 2 things, bonnet switch, bend the bracket up to meet the bonnet more, or tape it down and see, if it still goes off then that would be second option, which is the power sounder under scuttle drivers side, unplug it. if you want you can cut it open and change the batterrys with some work

intermitent brake light warning is usually a bad connection on the bulb, cheap bulbs from halfords they say. remember it cant tell if the bulb is blown, just that the circuit is broken hth

ah you have 2.2 which is face lift as mine is so would think the led would behave similarly. on mine the led only flashes for 10 secs when you press the running man button on the center consol to disarm the internal sensors, for say if you leave a dog or a child in the car when locked. the led then stays off.

Tks for reply
I was reading this topic and will check the power sound definitely. The bad thing is take out all silicon I did last week to avoid more water in the spark plugs.
Also will disconnect all sensor and check the light (should be on not flashing in the first 10 sec).

More work.

or get it on tech 2 with Kevin Wood in Alton to see whats upsetting the led thing if your scuttle is sealed in. Or does the led play up with a fried sounder....

I'm planning to make a visit to Kevin before a long travel (august). But until there I will check.
This week the alarm started and even turning on the car, pressing the key, etc no way to stop.
I disconnect the battery to solve.
My multimeter will have a lot of work to check all the sensors.

'Powersounder Batteries Gone', disconnect the powersound, if all is ok you have found the fault. :y

Hello, Boys and Girls
Powersound disconnected and open.
Bateries with 4V each but signs of acid leaking going to the device side.
Need dig in to check the tragedy.
Apart from the Powersound the led on the front panel still flashing in the first 10sec. Could be the disconnected power sound ?? or something else ?
Any ideas.

Leaking onto the PCB is what caused my power sounder to start triggering the alarm. With it removed I think your problems will stop. Alarm will still function, but without battery backup in the event of the main battery being removed.

Hello, Kevin
Bad batteries. 4V and leaking. Replace this week.
Do you know why the led still flashing in the first 10 sec ? All sensor checked OK with the meter.
I will check my car with you soon.
Regards and Thanks

i think start with the power sounder repair and see what the led does, if it sorts it fine, if not look into it then.

I have the same problem on my facelift, I removed the powersounder as it was going off all the time, still flashes, I noticed on my prefacelift if you leave anything open like the bonnet the led flashes
-
I've never really noticed what my LED does. :-[
Tech 2 can read a log of alarm activations and also watch live data from all alarm sensors so that will tell us what has been going on. (Car pass required to get into the alarm ECU).

The alarm going off is a common problem for the Omega as there is not enough preload on the sensor.
In the sunshine the bonnet heats and expands and breaks the circuit causing the alarm to sound. (Well that's as I understand it anyway).
The way I solved it was to cut out a section of a bicycle inner tube and put it in the hole in the bonnet liner so that the hood switch cover (the rubber dome) is continuallty in contact with the rubber and isn't effected by the bonnet metal.
It's never been a problem since. :y
Quick cheap and easy (even for a numpty like me!) ::)

Hello Matthew
Tks for the reply I will make the same in mine.
I think also this hot weather is making the batteries leaking.
The leaking caused a nice stain in the PCB and I need make a good recover. It is possible to buy new batteries and because the corrosion in the PCB lost the money and time.
let's see.

To prove whether it's the bonnet switch just involves uplugging it. If's not in circuit it can't earth when the bonnet opens/flexes in the sun.

Hello All
Good recover in the powersound PCB, did some joints and put back the leaking batteries for test today.
After install did a test on the alarm and it worked fine, now buy new batteries and put glue/silicon to avoid water.
The LED on the front panel still flashing in the first 10 sec :-? :-? :-? - Perhaps a new setup or reset (?????????? :-? :-?) Any ideas
Well problem partially sorted. Thanks for all helps and replies.

Telling you you have a door open or a fault .... and a duff power sounder is probably a fault .... I bet with new batteries it'll work as advertised
