I have just acquired a 3.0 elite, and would like to know what i am doing wrong with the cd player, or is it the wiring, first of all i have both codes for the radio [which does say bose on the cassette flap ] and also i have the code for the cd player, which according to the posts that i have read is the correct model for the head unit, the problem lies in that when all the correct procedure is followed ,i have no problem with the radio ,but when i try to find safe and code the cd nothing happens, i have my finger on the correct button and switch the radio on , but nothing shows up on the screen, the guy before me took the radio out and he did cut some of the wires , but i have soldered them back to the original positions, to no avail, the cd player is powering up as when you disconnect the plug and then reconnect it you can hear it going through the cds that is in the mag, any help would be gratefully received . Many thanks JK

the picture you're posting needs to be hosted elsewhere. You surround the 'properties' of the picture with the image tags ie [ img ] http// blah blah [ /img ]

Hi, I had to charge the battery on my Omega and after that the CD would not work no matter what I did. Just comes up with "CD ERROR". I plugged in my i pod and now just use that and the radio. Other than that suggestion, I can't help. Arc.

the car is an "R" reg, but there is no identifacation numbers on the front ,am goin to take a photo of it this morning , and see if i can post it , but still not 100% sure i can do it, but we will see--JK

Don't seem to be able to post pictures as i have no browse on my screen ,and when i click on image ,it just puts 2 img on my screen and when you click on them they just turn blue , so all i can help you with is the id of the cd player ,which has id numbers on it .They are as follows----- CDC2, and the number above that is 90 493 268 --, again there is no id numbers on the head unit ,it only says Phillips bose ,rws .Hope this helps---JK

Its a CCR800 then.
Do you have the CD security code (different to the radio code)?
If so, its entered:
Ign ON, Radio OFF
Press and hold 0 (next to cassette flap), and turn on radio, release 0 when it beeps
press 1,2,3,4 to get the correct code on display
Press and hold 0 until beep to activate.
10 attempts only!!
-
have both codes and they are different, done as you have said but i don't get anything on the screen , i do when i code the radio but when i follow the book and your instructions [which are the same ] nothing happens ,only the date disappears from the screen ,it makes no difference, how long you hold the 0 button ,nothing happens, but when i unplug and replug the cd wires you can hear it start to search for the cds, i know it sounds strange but that is what happens---JK

What happens when you just press the 0 button in normal use - do you get CDC SAFE on the display briefly?

Just throwing in a thought -
As the vehicle is new to you - Are there any serial numbers on the code cards that you have that match the changer? Have you seen the changer work at all since you have had the car?
I`m just wondering if someone has thrown in a non compatable changer to sell the car? Wouldn`t be unheard of. If you can get the numbers from the label on the changer, I`m sure someone here can advise if its the correct changer as there are several variants and we often get compatability questions here on the forum.

It says no tape or something in that order, i think that when the previous owner removed the radio he has lost some of the wiring, i am off outside now to see if i can find it , i know that there is a connector from the main harness to the radio plug ,this is where the wires have been cut ,but i have soldered the wires back together in colour co-ordination, ie black to black etc ---JK

black to black etc ---JK
No, I`m sure Black to Black was Amy Winehouse, not Jay Kay (Jamiroqai)
:D

NO CASS ?
the headunit is not talking to the cd changer.... ....get numbers as dave dnd says

Im older than JK so i'm the original, i think that is how it works, any how after looking at the wiring coming from the cd player i have found a red and white wire that has been caught and thus snapped, i have rejoined the two wires and the cd is now talking to the radio , it has now allowed me to enter the code, which it accepts, and bleeps, and then says cds err ,yesterday when i tried the cd itself yesterday it would accept the disc holder as normal ,but now it won't allow me to insert it ,it is just popping back out, and sometimes if i switch off the radio and then switch it back on it reads no disc, this is probably as the disc holder is not all the way in the cd player, but i am getting by, with a little help from my friends [wet wet wet ] or the beatles --JK

OK, now you have it communicating, unplug the changer for one hour, plug back in, enter the code and this will do a hard reset on the changer.
This will allow everything to rest back to normal, as it may previously have been in a confused state due to the wiring. Can`t promise it will work, but worth a try, and certainly "Nothing to Lose" (Claudine Longet)
;)

Thanks for that i will leave it until tommorow morning--JK

Well i left it until the morning and guess what , it did the self and same thing, looks like i need a new Cd player, but i did have a go ,it seems to be out of sequence, i have managed to adjust it slightly so that it now holds down the Cd holder but that is it , I'm no electrical mastermind and i have the conviction to know when it is time to say that's enough, and well that's enough, but it was fun trying ---JK
