Hi there, i have a 1994 omega elite, it has a philips sc804 cdc and i recharged the battery and put it back then checked and cleaned the fuses because i had some other leccy problems, the radio needed codeing in which i have a done before but this time it only showed SAFE and no numbers, i tried a couple of times but still came up SAFE. any help would be appreciated, thankyou, peter, helens other half. ps as i said i have the right code and also the 14 digit s/n, thanks again.

SAFE with no numbers is forgetting to turn the ignition on first !!
Code Entry as Follows:
Switch On Ignition (No Need To Start Engine)
Switch Radio On - Display Shows
" SAFE " And Then Shows " 10 - - - - "
Press preset " 1 " repeatedly for 1st Digit
Press preset " 2 " repeatedly for 2nd Digit
Press preset " 3 " repeatedly for 3rd Digit
Press preset " 4 " repeatedly for 4th Digit
If the correct code number is now shown
Press & Hold Preset " AS " Until the Unit Beeps
And the Radio will then Turn On

You may have forgotten Helen that you need to have the radio off, turn the ignition on, then whilst holding the 'AS' button in turn the radio on, then you can enter your code via buttons 1-4. ;) ;)

Yes, the Vx stereo can be turned on normally without the ignition, but the code can ONLY be entered with the ignition switched on first.
SAFE with no numbers shown means that the radio has not seen the igntion switched on

Remember to press and HOLD the AS button whilst turning on, give it a good ten seconds or so.

Then its time to get the meter out and measure the permenent and switched supplies at the back of the head unit, as it would appear as if one of them is missing
